The FAI - Italian Environmental Fund is pleased to present Picnic 1 MAY OF THE Kolymbetra
Garden of Kolymbetra - Valley of the Temples (Ag).
 
Sweet scents, bright colors, archaeological immersed in a lush and lovely, this is the magic that awaits the visitor in the spring is walking through the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. And just to rediscover the beauty of these places, the FAI - Italian Environmental Fund, at a major festival - May 1 - organizes a fun picnic in the Garden of Kolymbetra, where you can spend this day of celebration to air open between history and natural food, good wine, song and the heady scent of orange blossoms in full bloom. The Kolymbetra is a real jewel, archaeological and agricultural: once the site of the ancient Pool of Akragas, became over the centuries a flourishing garden full of citrus fruit and olive trees, watered with clear water still gushing from the Phaeacians Aqueducts - the ancient tombs of the fifth century BC that once fed the pool, the only still be visited in the Valley of the Temples.
 
For the festival of May 1, FAI offers a guided tour of the Garden, followed by a rich cocktail - made with bread "cunzato" and green olives - that can be sipped under the olive trees of the Temple of Vulcan. During the cocktail participants will be cheered by the notes of the "Vereniging Hofstads Jeugdorkest" a youth orchestra from the Dutch city of The Hague who will play songs note traditional European music. At 13.30 you can have lunch while enjoying dishes peasant, all ristorandosi 'Shadow of the citrus Kolymbetra. In the afternoon visitors can make an optional visit to the Park of the Valley of the Temples. The event is organized by the FAI in partnership with the Park and Archaeological Landscape of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and the Chamber of Labour . The event is made possible through the generous contribution of Conad Sicily and Groupama Insurance.

10.00 am
Opening of the Garden of Kolymbetra and welcoming of participants. Guided tours starting every 30 minutes between the citrus trees in full bloom.
 
12.00 am
Grand Concert of Europe, Sicily Tour 2012, with the Dutch team "Vereniging Hofstads Jeugdorkest" Youth Orchestra of the City of The Hague.
Appetizer with rustic white wine Inzolia.

At 13.30
Tasting of typical dishes of the Sicilian peasant among the orange trees of Kolymbetra. The rustic lunch by "The Old Bakery" Raffadali (AG) provides the typical menu of "the Ricottaro" with dishes such as "Zàbina", or the hot soup with cottage cheese whey and bread, and how Tuma starters fresh sheep's milk, sausage seasoned local, eggplant caponata, fried beans and peas and bread and finally Sicilian citrus fruits. All washed down with red wine, Nero d'Avola.

Entrance to Kolymbetra with guided tours, concerts and drink:
Adults: € 9.00, Children (4-14 years) and FAI Members: 7.00 €.
And 'possible to bring the meal home to eat and stay in the shade of the trees by booking a place in the picnic table.
